How to Play Never Have I Ever Online (Zoom, FaceTime & Discord)
Remote groups can still get the same laughs—you just need a clear flow for prompts, turns, and house rules.
What you need
- One working video call (Zoom, FaceTime, Google Meet, Discord, etc.).
- A questions source: open our homepage packs, jump into a themed pack below, or use the app on a second device.
- Optional: one person designated as “host” to keep turns moving.
Screen-share vs. everyone on-site
Screen-share flow
The reader shares their screen on this site so everyone sees the same prompt at once—best for mixed devices and big fonts.
Everyone opens the site
Send a link to the same pack. Mute while reading isn’t your turn so overlapping audio doesn’t spoil punchlines.
Turn order & who reads prompts
Go clockwise on gallery view, or randomize with “next reader is the last person who put a finger down.” Rotate readers every 3–5 prompts so one person isn’t stuck hosting.
New to rules in general? See How to Play Never Have I Ever for the classic offline breakdown.
Drinking vs. 10-fingers remotely
10 fingers: hold hands in frame; drop a finger when a prompt fits. Drinking: same honor rules as at home—sip when it applies, agree on pace, and make water the default chaser.
Mix warm-up → spicy rounds by moving through packs in order—try First Timers, Dating Trauma, then XXX when the group is ready.
Boundaries & skipping
Use “skip, no story” as a group norm. If someone passes, move on immediately—no peer pressure monologues on video.
Want alternate formats without the same prompt style? Try Truth or Drink or Most Likely To between NHIE rounds.
FAQ
How do you play Never Have I Ever on Zoom or FaceTime?
One person shares their screen with this site or the app, or everyone opens the same pack. Take turns reading prompts aloud. Players either lower a finger or take a drink when a statement applies to them—same rules as in person.
What if the video call lags?
Mute when you are not speaking, use a wired connection if you can, and pause between prompts so slower connections can catch up. If screen share drops, nominate one reader for the round.
Can large groups play Never Have I Ever online?
Yes. Use gallery view, keep prompts short, and rotate who reads each round so quieter people get airtime. For very large groups, split into breakout rooms after a warm-up.
How do you run drinking vs. 10-fingers rules remotely?
On video, 10 fingers is easy—hold hands up to camera. For drinks, honor system works: take a sip when it applies to you, or use a substitute like losing a point. Agree before you start.
